As an awarding organisation, CIWM does not deliver training for qualifications. Instead, we have a network of quality-assured Qualification Centres that aim to provide the best possible experience for their learners. Use our Qualification Directory to find the qualification you need.

Each qualification includes a list of Centres that deliver it. We recommend contacting more than one Centre to get the best possible price for training and assessment services.

We have a team of External Quality Assurers (EQAs) who ensure our Centres meet all requirements to deliver and assess the CIWM (WAMITAB) qualifications they offer. This includes Centre approval, qualification approval, Centre visits and sampling learner portfolios.

If you are a learner and have a query regarding a CIWM (WAMITAB) qualification you are undertaking, please contact your college or Qualification Centre in the first instance. They will then contact CIWM (WAMITAB) on your behalf if required.

All CIWM (WAMITAB) qualifications are made up of units. Each unit has a set of learning outcomes and assessment criteria against which an individual will be assessed. If they meet all the requirements, the learner completes the unit, and once they have completed all the units that make up their qualification, they achieve that qualification.

An award is a small-sized qualification with a Total Qualification Time (TQT) value of 120 hours or less.

A certificate is a medium-sized qualification with a Total Qualification Time (TQT) value of 121 to 369 hours.

A diploma is a large-sized qualification with a Total Qualification Time (TQT) value of 370 hours or more.

Guided Learning Hours (GLH) are the time a learner spends being taught, instructed, or actively engaged in education or training under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, tutor, supervisor, or appropriately qualified training provider. This includes classroom-based teaching, tutorials, workshops, and supervised practical work. GLH also covers time spent in formal assessment, provided the evaluation takes place under immediate guidance or supervision.

Total Qualification Time (TQT) is the estimated number of hours a learner needs to achieve a qualification. TQT comprises two elements: Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and independent learning time. Independent learning includes preparation, study, practice, and other forms of participation in education and training, including assessment, that take place without direct supervision.

The CIWM (WAMITAB) Qualification Centre that you registered with at the start of your qualification is responsible for notifying CIWM (WAMITAB) of your achievement. Once we have received this notification, we will issue your certificate.
