Current opportunities
Consultant Opportunity: Resource Efficiency & Circular Economy Skills Gap Analysis
CIWM is seeking an experienced consultant to undertake a rapid skills gap analysis across two Government priority sectors: Advanced Manufacturing and Digital & Technologies.
The project will assess whether current apprenticeship provision equips learners with the skills needed to support resource efficiency, waste prevention and the transition to a circular economy, identifying existing strengths, potential gaps and opportunities to strengthen provision.
The work will involve a targeted review of relevant apprenticeship standards, supported by engagement with employers and training providers, and will identify 2–3 priority opportunities for further development. The findings will inform CIWM’s engagement with Skills England, Government and wider stakeholders.
We are looking for someone with:
Experience of UK skills policy and apprenticeships.
Knowledge of Skills England and/or the UK skills system.
Experience of skills or curriculum gap analysis.
Understanding of resource efficiency, circular economy and sustainability skills.
Strong research, analytical and policy-writing skills.
Key information Timescale: September – November 2026, with substantive research completed by the end of October. Budget: Up to £9,000 excluding VAT. Outputs: Methodology, interim findings, final report and executive briefing.
