About this regulated qualification
This qualification is part of the CIWM (WAMITAB) Operator Competence Scheme. It helps technically competent managers (TCMs) develop expertise in managing mobile plant operations for landspreading and non-hazardous sludge, ensuring they comply with relevant regulations.
Assessment is carried out in the workplace through a portfolio of evidence, covering managing health and safety, minimising environmental impact, handling the movement, sorting and storage of waste, controlling waste activities and receiving non-hazardous waste.
In addition to the mandatory units, learners can choose one of two optional units to tailor their qualification to specific operational needs:
- Manage transfer and disposal from non-hazardous waste treatment and recovery operations
- Manage transfer and disposal from biological treatment operations
This structure ensures that learners gain both core technical competence and specialist knowledge, supporting compliance and best practice.
