CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 Medium Risk Operator Competence for Dredgings Management
About this regulated qualification
This qualification is part of the CIWM (WAMITAB) Operator Competence Scheme. It provides technically competent managers (TCMs) with the knowledge and skills to ensure dredging operations comply with relevant regulations.
Assessment is conducted in the workplace through a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates competence in managing health and safety, minimising environmental impact, handling the movement, sorting, and storage of waste, receiving non-hazardous waste, and managing single-waste-stream disposal operations.
In addition to the mandatory units, learners can choose one of three optional units to tailor their qualification to specific operational needs:
- Restore and prepare landfill sites for aftercare
- Developing restoration and aftercare schemes for a non-hazardous landfill site
- Prepare Landfill sites for the acceptance of non-hazardous waste
This structure ensures that learners gain both core technical competence and specialist knowledge, supporting compliance and best practice.
