CIWM has announced key appointments to its Board of Trustees, effective from 18 June 2026 following the Presidential Inauguration. These changes further strengthen the strategic direction and governance of CIWM, demonstrating our commitment to strong leadership and continued progress within the resources and waste sector. 

Following a rigorous assessment process, CIWM is delighted to announce the appointment of Iain Gulland as a new Trustee. An internationally recognised leader in the circular economy and former CEO of Zero Waste Scotland, Iain brings extensive global and national experience driving net-zero transitions, sustainable resource management, and legislative change across the sector. His 3-year term on the Trustee Board will run until the Presidential Inauguration 2029. 

In addition, we are pleased to confirm the re-appointment of Adam Read as a Trustee. As Chief Sustainability & External Affairs Officer at SUEZ UK, Adam is responsible for government engagement, communications, and education. Having spent over 20 years in the resources sector as a local authority recycling officer, academic, and lecturer, Adam’s continued dedication has been instrumental to CIWM’s leadership. His re-appointment for a 3-year term until 2029 ensures continuity and sustained guidance for the organisation.

We are also pleased to welcome Tim Walker back as a Trustee. Following the completion of his term as Immediate Past President, Tim returns to fulfil the remaining year of his previous term, which was paused when he became Junior Vice President. 

Each year, CIWM invites applications from its members for Trustee positions. Applications undergo a thorough assessment by a selection panel, which includes CIWM members and an independent non-member, against a comprehensive skills matrix to ensure the Board possesses the diverse expertise required.
