CIWM South West: Hartcliffe Way Reuse and Recycling Centre Site Visit

Hartcliffe Way Reuse and Recycling Centre, which opened in June 2022, is one of the largest household recycling centres in the region. 

It is home to the Bristol Waste reuse shop and workshop, selling and repairing good quality pre-loved items that might have otherwise gone to waste. 

Last year; 

• The Reuse Shop diverted around 8,500 items a month back into use 
• More than £20,000 worth of goods were gifted to local charities, community groups and social enterprises.
• More than £50,000, generated through the Reuse Shop's profits, was donated to St Peter's Hospice. 
• The facility was awarded LARAC HRRC of the Year 2025, recognising excellence in reuse and recycling.

This is a great opportunity to learn about the operation of this facility and how it makes such a successful contribution to the circular economy as well as local charities.

Important Information

• Please wear a hi-vis vest/jacket and safety boots. If you do not have these, please let us know at booking along with your size and Bristol Waste will provide. 
• CIWM and sponsors Bristol Waste encourage sustainable travel wherever possible. The closest Train Station is Parson Street station which is a 15-minute walk away. Hartcliffe Way is also located on the 76 bus route, the closest stops are Headley Lane and Vale Lane, a five-minute walk away. Hartcliffe Way can be reached from the city centre and other South Bristol areas in around 15-20 minutes by bike.
