Blue Planet II  - One Year on
The search for practical solutions to the Plastic Waste Crisis – an evidence-based approach

Plastic pollution is not going away. This seminar will take you on a journey from what is being done at international, national and regional levels through to what we can all do in industry, business and as individuals to better understand plastic pollution and the opportunities for and benefits of being pro-active.

Plastics have great value in many walks of life including disease control and reducing food waste, and so in helping to tackle Climate Change. We will therefore present the latest evidence to inform decision and policy making so that a balanced approach can be made to tackling plastic pollution.

The first part of the seminar will look at the work and research being undertaken, and practical solutions being developed and delivered by academia, research consultancy, regulatory bodies and industry to reduce plastic pollution and promote the circular economy.

The second part of the event focuses on community level initiatives in the South West that are tackling plastic pollution to highlight the actions that can be taken by individuals and communities.  The event aims to equip delegates with the knowledge and tools to become solution creators rather than problem makers.

The seminar is being held in Plymouth, Britain’s Ocean City, and the first to be accredited by Surfer’s Against Sewage with Plastic Free Communities Status. Plymouth’s Plan for Plastics is attached for information.
