Waste Legislation Update (England)- Virtual Training

WHO IS THIS COURSE AIMED AT:

Anyone who has the basics e.g. Waste Smart, Intro to Management of Resources and Waste Management,  Waste Legislations Essentials (online) and who wants to update on any key changes and what’s happening around other important topics e.g. circular economy, net zero/ carbon etc. with respect to waste and resources sector. 

This will be relevant to anyone working within the waste and resource sector, waste producers, consultants, regulators, Local Authorities etc who have a remit for waste and resources.

This programme is delivered as a virtual training programme and comprises of a combination of live tutor led sessions with self-managed learning activities for you to complete in between. 

The programme starts with an opportunity to assess your basic understanding of some key issues before the course starts. 

AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
To provide an signpost to any recent updates on the key topics covered in the initial self-assessment, for example WFD, duty of care, hazardous waste regulations.
Introduction to the Circular Economy Package and its targets allowing exploration of what this means for your organisation.
Introduction to carbon budget and how this relates to waste and resources.
Overview of existing producer responsibility topics including packaging, End of Life Vehicles, WEEE, Batteries
Review the current understanding of the waste and resource strategy implications, including a look at the following issues where relevant:
EPR,
DRS
Improving quality and quantity of recycling
Separate collection of biowaste
Waste crime

Provision of some addition topic overviews which may include depending relevance at time of course:
Clinical/ healthcare waste
ABPR
TFS
Litter
Enforcement/compliance

Opportunity to review all aspects of the programme and considering own organisation’s compliance and future actions/implications.
This programme will consist of 3 live sessions (not lasting more than 3hours each), a number of recorded modules, exercises/knowledge checks etc.  available as on demand at a time of your choosing within the course timetable. The whole programme will be delivered over a period of approx. 10 – 14 days.  It is important that you are able to attend all the dates/times of the live sessions and are able to set aside appropriate times for the self managed learning in between.

Throughout the course you will be able to ask questions, start discussions with the delegate group through the course Q&A forum.  All materials are made available through the CIWM Learn LMS platform and all live sessions are delivered through Zoom.
