Conference

The "Waste to Resource Management- Making the transition" conference and exhibition follows the success of last year's event and will address the many and varied problems facing the waste industry's transition to a resource management industry.

Scotland has made significant advances in the recovery of municipal waste, but we still have a long way to go in regarding waste as a resource which can offer economic benefits by reducing our dependence on primary raw materials. This years conference will focus on waste as a resource, looking for the synergies between commercial waste arisings and the economic drivers which bring the recovery of MSW and business waste together. Each conference session will have a designated theme, ensuring that the event offers something of interest to delegates from all industry sectors. The themes will include: Strategy and Policy, Delivery and Implementation, Business and Producers and Technologies, with topics ranging from the role of waste producers, thematic strategies, treatment/recovery technologies, strategy review and partnerships between community, public and private sectors.

Last year the conference attracted over 200 delegates to the event. Both private and public sectors were well represented with an increase in the number of delegates from local authorities (including Liverpool Council and Isle of Man government) attending.
