Special interest groups
CIWM’s Special Interest Groups (or SIGs) are the engine room for the body of knowledge that deals with the activities covered within the sustainable waste and resources management sector. The work of the SIGs is invaluable and CIWM wants more members to become involved in the work of these groups.
In order for these groups to function efficiently the Institution needs the groups to comprise of enthusiastic people working in the waste and resource industry. Being an expert in a specific subject is not a pre-requisite for potential members and those with experience, skills and competence are more than welcome to join.
Above all you should be able to contribute to the promotion of the waste and resources agenda through the specific activities of the SIGs. These groups provide the authoritative technical resource that is the basis for some excellent publications, best practice documents, guidance documents and consultation responses on behalf of CIWM.
CIWM is looking to build upon the successes of the SIGs by raising the profile of the Institution. Strengthening SIG membership will increase the influential powers across the diverse areas of interest and stakeholders within the sector, both in the UK and overseas. We have many excellent professionals in our field and we want to see a renewed energy and determination to influence waste and resource matters through the Institution’s work.
We encourage you to consider joining a SIG whether as part of the active steering committee or contributing as a corresponding member.
