Course Details


This technical programme delivers a blend of virtual and eLearning courses across a 12-month period with a total of approx. 43 hours (5.5-6 days) of learning.
The programme will provide individuals already working in the resource and waste management sector with a technical understanding of a broad range of interconnected topics, thereby supporting their career development. When enrolling onto this programme, you will receive complimentary CIWM Affiliate membership and be given access to many member benefits. On completion of this programme, you will automatically be upgraded to a *CIWM Technical member.
These benefits include access to the latest knowledge and expertise, unrivalled networking opportunities, and exclusive savings on events, conferences and training.

*Your CIWM Affiliate membership will commence from the start date of your programme. Your upgraded CIWM Technical membership is valid until 31st December of the year following the programme end date.

    29th April 2025– 09:30 – 12:30 – ‘Introduction to Waste & Resource Management’ – Virtual Learning


    May- Behaviour Change– Helen White

    21st May 2025– 09:30 – 13:30 – ‘Behaviour Change’ – Virtual learning


    June– Intro to Waste Duty of Care – Claire Poole

    10th June 2025– 09:30 – 12:30 – ‘Intro of Duty of Care’- Virtual Training


    July- Waste Collection

    30 mins eLearning required. To be completed after the ‘Intro to Duty of Care’ virtual course and to be completed before the next live session


    August- Waste Legislations Essentials

    3 hours eLearning required. To be completed after the ‘Waste Collections’ eLearning course and to be completed before the next live session


    August- Environmental Permitting Exemptions

    2 hours eLearning required. To be completed after the ‘Waste Legislation Essentials’ eLearning course and to be completed before the next live session


    September– Introduction to the Classification of Wastes – Jane Hall

    11th September 2025– 10:00-11:30 – ‘Introduction to the Classification of Wastes’- Virtual Course


    October- Safe in Waste- Claire Poole

    7th October 2025– 09:30-12:00 – ‘Health & Safety’- Virtual course


    November – Intro to AI & Data within WRM- Garry Williams

    6th November 2025– 09:30-13:30 – ‘Intro to AI & Data within WRM’- Virtual Course


    December – Hazardous Waste Regulation- Andy Childs

    4th December 2025– 09:30-12:30 – ‘Hazardous Waste Regulation’- Virtual Course


    January – Introduction to Understanding Contracts- Brian Mayne

    15th January 2026– 09:30-13:30 – ‘Introduction to Understanding Contracts’- Virtual Course


    February- Good practice waste sites

    1.5 hours eLearning required. This will be completed after the ‘Introduction to Understanding Contracts’ eLearning course and before the next live session.
