CIWM Hackathon - Hack the Loop: Problem-solving fast fashion for a circular approach to textiles
Date: Tuesday 11 November 2025
Time: 14:30 - 16:30
Venue: Zoom - links to follow closer to the event
Cost: FREE for students and early careers professionals
Ready to hack the challenges of fast fashion through circular solutions?
The challenge: To develop an innovative solution that significantly reduces textile waste and promotes a circular economy within the fast fashion space. Participants will be tasked with creating a concept, prototype, or detailed plan for a system, product, or technology that addresses one or more of the following areas:
- Upcycling and designing for longevity
- Material innovation and modular design
- Value chain optimisation and sustainable sourcing
- End of life solutions and recycling technologies
- Consumer engagement and behaviour change
How it works: Participants will be grouped together, focusing on one of the areas outlined above. There will be an initial overview covering key insights from the textiles industry, before being split into virtual breakout rooms to create your solution. Following this, each group will share their solution to a panel of industry experts to provide feedback on the infrastructure feasibility and market impact. The group with the winning solution will be featured in CIWM's Circular Online news-site and the opportunity for a bespoke 1-2-1 call with an industry expert associated with CIWM (this could include advice on career progression or delving further into creating your proposed solution). Further information on the Hackathon will be shared with participants closer to the event.
The event is free to join and is open to early careers professionals.
