Enva Toomebridge - Fridge Plant and Glass Plant Tours

Wednesday 8 May 2019

Venue:  Enva Toomebridge (formerly Clearcircle t/a Techrec and Glassdon), 52 Creagh Road, Toomebridge, Antrim.  BT41 3SE

Please note there is limited parking on the site, so car-pooling should be encouraged where possible.

Enva Toomebridge (formerly Clearcircle t/a Techrec and Glassdon) invite CIWM NI members to their plants in Toomebridge where the team will be happy to show everyone around their Glass Plant and Fridge Plant. |

The tours will begin at 10.30am where
the groups will be divided into two, with one touring the glass plant and the other the fridge plant, then vice versa.  It will take no more than two hours.

The colour-separation glass plant has capacity to process up to 100000 tonnes of glass cullet, and currently the company services collections of glass from Local Authorities, commercial premises and the restaurant / bar industries within Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.  Through recycling glass packaging we reduce CO2 emissions, energy demand and reduce the amount of materials going to landfill. Glass is one of the few materials that can be continuously recycled without losing any of its properties, so it has the potential to be 100% recyclable.

The Enva fridge plant is the only authorised waste refrigeration recycling facility on the Island of Ireland. The company first operated from 2002 at the original site in Dungannon, Co Tyrone, but commissioned a new state of the art Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) facility at Toomebridge in Co Antrim in 2016.  Waste handled at the facility includes domestic fridge freezers and commercial refrigeration such as drinks coolers, chillers, chest freezers, catering equipment, cold room panels, air conditioning units and all other refrigerated equipment.  It has capacity to process up to 20,000 tons of e-scrap per annum and has been designed as a combi-plant allowing a ‘mode B’ to process other categories of WEEE to include small domestic appliances (SDA) and white goods.  It currently processes all of the refrigeration WEEE collected in HWRCs across Northern Ireland, and much of those from the Republic of Ireland.

This visit is free of charge to attend.  Places are limited and booked on a first come first served basis.
