About this training
This 3-hour eLearning course provides an understanding of waste legislation in the UK.
The course aims to improve the delegates’ understanding of the core waste legal obligations.
To ensure that information is up-to-date and accurate, this course has been developed with input from the waste industry, consultants with regulatory experience and experienced training professionals.

What will I learn on the course?
• The extent of UK legislation relating to waste.
• Key issues in relation to the legal definition of waste
• An introduction to the permitting and licensing processes which cover the treatment, recovery and disposal of waste.
• An introduction to waste exemptions.
• How to practically comply with waste Duty of Care and other related controls.
• Essential elements of hazardous waste controls.
• Essential elements of a range of specific waste regulatory controls
• New and future waste regulations, such as Extended Producer Responsibility and Deposit Return Schemes.
• Signpost to follow-on CIWM courses and regulatory guidance.
Who is it for?
• Suitable for all members of staff at waste sites, but would be of specific relevance to those in a managerial, environmental or regulatory role.
• Members of staff in other sectors who have a waste management role.
• Consultants and those who support the waste sector in a technical advisory role.
What are the entry requirements for this course?
You do not require any prior knowledge of waste regulations or waste management to enrol in this course.
