Anaerobic Digestion Module 1
About this training
CIWM’s Anaerobic Digestion Module 1 e-learning course introduces the science and principles of AD and biogas generation using practical examples and visual representations of operational facilities to help explain the theory behind the process. The course is based on a model used successfully over the last 15 years to train those involved in operating energy from waste plants and takes approximately 90 minutes to complete.

What will I learn on the course?
The course aims to ensure delegates can:
• Understand the basic principles of anaerobic conditions and the AD process
• Identify the technical and commercial benefits of producing and using biogas/biomethane
• Understand the key practical parameters that impact AD plants at an operational level
• Understand the main methods of conditioning biogas and upgrading to biomethane

What are the entry requirements for this course?
You do not require any prior knowledge of anaerobic digestion to enrol in this course.

Once you have completed this training, you will develop a greater understanding of the basic principles behind AD, including the microbiology of anaerobic conditions, and what is involved at a practical level when operating an AD plant taking a range of different feedstocks.
