CIWM London & Southern Counties: Surrey SUEZ Eco Park Site Visit
Join CIWM London & Southern Counties at this unique opportunity to visit The Surrey Eco Park where SUEZ works in partnership with Surrey County Council and other local organisations to manage the household waste that’s generated daily across the county. The gasification facility at the Eco Park processes around one third of Surrey’s household waste left after recycling, which is then used as a fuel to generate electricity. The anaerobic digestion facility at the Eco Park treats all of Surrey’s food waste, generating electricity and producing digestate which can be used as a soil improver in agriculture.
The site visit will be preceded by an introductory series of presentations from SUEZ & Surrey CC on how the Eco Park recycle and compost waste, with only waste that remains going energy recovery, and how recent changes in legislation will affect recycling collections and waste going for disposal.
