Course Details

This training programme consists of 3 Modules. All tutor-led modules will take place live online.

Module 1: 19th May 2026 09:30-12:30 via zoom

• Fundamentals & overview
• Brief overview of associated legislation
• Duty of Care obligations
• Statutory Code of Practice

Module 2: Self-managed activities accessed via CIWM Learn

• Waste iron and steel from the demolition of a building
• Waste medicines from a health centre – non cancer treatment
• Cardboard packaging – collected from a supermarket
• Out-of-specification whisky in bottles from distillery
• Waste synthetic hydraulic oils from a heavy plant maintenance company
• Lead-acid batteries (ex-forklift) from warehouse
• Old broken metal gates from land owned by the Forestry Commission
• Waste collected from a small newsagent – consisting of paper, plastic, out of date food items, cans, etc.
• Used cooking oil collected from a restaurant .
• Fly tipped domestic fridge

 

Module 3: 22nd May 2026- 09:30 - 12:30 via Zoom

• Review of List of Waste exercise
• Putting it into Practice
• Auditing your compliance
• Enforcement / Penalties
• Any upcoming changes
