KFR (Kennet Furniture Refurbiz) is a successful reuse organisation and registered charity, covering the whole of Wiltshire and Swindon. Over the past 10 years, sales of reusable furniture and electrical items have grown more than sixfold to over £1m last year, reflecting an ever increasing demand for affordable household goods.

During the visit, you will find out how KFR sources goods (which would otherwise be sent for disposal) from public donations, local retailers, house clearances and Wiltshire Household Recycling Centres; and how they are given a second life through sales, or being provided at no cost through the charitable Crisis Provision Fund. You will hear about the important work KFR does in partnership with Swindon & Wiltshire Councils, housing associations and local charities to provide essential household items to people in desperate need, which amounted to a value of over £220,000 last year.  

The tour of the warehouse will cover the extensive shop floor, ‘west wing’ storage area, and the engineering testing and repair workshops. There will be plenty of time to ask questions and maybe pick up a bargain.

This is a great opportunity to learn how a regional reuse organisation operates and the contribution it makes to the circular economy and local communities.

Parking and Arrival

As car parking outside the venue is needed for customers, special arrangements have been made for CIWM visitors to park outside Grant Heating Systems car park, a couple of minutes walk away.
