2008 Scottish Waste & Resource Conference

Hazardous Waste SIG

Objectives

  • To provide a regular forum for active members (front line hazardous waste managers, producers, policy makers, consultants, academics and others) to meet together and to discuss issues arising with the implementation of the relatively new hazardous waste regulatory regime.
  • To ‘monitor’ the effectiveness of the changes to the regulatory regime and the evolution of control systems and guidance, in particular the fate of hazardous waste which used to go to co-disposal landfill.

  • To provide an interface between CIWM members and the Defra Hazardous Waste Forum.

  • To provide a platform for the UK to input into international discussions as an active member of ISWA and benefit from the broad European perspective

Steering Committee Members

The work of the Special Interest Group is coordinated by a steering committee that reports to the CIWM Scientific & Technical Committee.

Membership

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in waste regulatory and waste control functions, particularly students and those with "grass roots" practical experience. CIWM Membership is not a pre-requisite, although we hope that this will be a natural progression for those interested in keeping up-to-date with waste management information and progressing their career.
