CIWM is inviting entries for a major new award – ‘Innovative Practice in Wastes Management and Resources Recovery – which is open to non-members.This award focuses on excellence in any aspect of innovative practice relating to wastes management or resource recovery. Entrants will have to articulate how they have approached an issue through original thinking and demonstrate the successful outcome that their innovative solution has had.
Entries could include (for example):
• Development of/increasing participation in a community recycling project
• A local authority waste and resource awareness initiative
• A technological innovation with the potential to impact wastes and resources management on any scale
• An initiative to encourage children to think more about the sustainable management of waste
• Increasing the markets for a recovered/recycled material
• An organisation’s waste minimisation initiative
The award is relevant to a wide variety of entrants including local authorities, private companies, community groups, not-for-profit organisations, voluntary organisations and technology manufacturers and suppliers.
The closing date for entries is 1 March 2006 and judging takes place in the Spring. Winners and their guests will be invited to CIWM’s Annual Industry Dinner in June to be presented with their prize by the CIWM President, Keith Simmonite.
