1. Training - We offer more and more training aimed at waste producers: waste law, the Duty of Care, Packaging, Hazardous Waste controls etc. We also deliver tailor-made training for individual companies. Check our website - you may need new skills to cope with the changes.
2. Membership - The pace of change is high and unrelenting. You may benefit from your staff or organisation joining CIWM to get free weekly updates; seminars and workshops; technical publications such as best practice guides; along with cheaper training. Again see the website -Affiliate membership couldn't be simpler.
3. Professionalism When you hand your waste to somebody else, you should check if the other person is, or is backed by, a CIWM member. It's a good sign you're doing business with a professional. It doesn't absolve you of your responsibilities, but it's the best first check.
4. Waste Awareness Certificate - You should show your waste manager that you know what you're doing. CIWM has just launched an entry level "Waste Awareness Certificate" for employees with hands-on responsibility for your waste. It's a quick, simple way to help cement that Duty of Care "handshake" that you need to have confidence in.
