We are delighted to announce that the CIWM Awards for Environmental Excellence will have a new home for 2010 in addition to a host of new and revised categories.
The awards have been running since 2007 during which time they have gathered huge momentum and firmly established themselves on the industry calendar. As a result we had reached maximum seating capacity at the Dorchester and we needed to explore other 5 star venue options. We have made the decision to move to the Grosvenor Square Marriott for 2010, using their magnificent Westminster ballroom. The venue offers all the luxury and opulence you would expect of a top London hotel with the convenience of a central location and we feel it meets our requirements perfectly, I’m sure you will agree!
The date for the 2010 CIWM Awards for Environmental Excellence is Thursday 18 November.
In addition we have also taken the opportunity to review all the eleven awards categories to ensure that they still reflect our ever changing industry and capture the imagination of our applicants and sponsors alike. As a result we now have some exciting new categories as well as a change to the format of two of our established awards.
Recycling Performance of the Year has been joined by a new SME Recycling Performance of the Year category, specifically for businesses with less than 250 employees, and the same has been applied to the Innovative Practice in Resource Recovery & Wastes Management category, now split between SMEs and businesses with 250+ employees.
The Vehicle and Plant & Equipment awards have been merged into one category, and the Construction & Demolition Site Waste Management and Product Use categories will also come together in one award: the Construction & Demolition Project of the Year.
The Recycling Champion of the Year award will now stand under the name of Community Recycling Champion of the Year, specifically targeting those who demonstrate commitment because they believe in the cause for the good of their community
And finally, our brand new award for 2010 concerns communications; the Communications Campaign of the Year will recognise successful PR, awareness and behaviour change campaigns carried out in environmental areas.
