North East Centre - Briefing Workshop on the implications of Climate Change on Waste Management activities
Venue: Canal Side Buildings, Firth Street, University of Huddersfield
CIWM NE Centre and BeEnvironmental invite you to a briefing session which will explore the relationship between climate change policy and current and future waste management practices. Climate change has become the main driver for environmental protection and sustainable development. Recently a plethora of policies, legislation and regulations has been developed to limit greenhouse gas emissions from a wide range of activities. In the UK local authorities are identified as being at the forefront of action. Consequently, all aspects of local government service provision need to be reviewed to ensure that their contribution to climate change is minimised. The collection, treatment and management of waste is no exception. This event will explore the relationship between waste management and climate change and identify the potential implications for local authorities when planning, delivering and communicating about the delivery of waste and recycling services. The benefits that the waste sector can gain from associating with and responding to the climate change debate will be explored in terms of the implications for increasing member, public and financial support for sustainable waste management activities.

Lunch will be provided.

How to book
Please complete the booking form attached. The briefing session is free and will be of interest mainly to Local Authorities; we hope many members from this sector of our membership will attend.
