| Description | Bryn Compost Ltd is a privately owned business based at Gelliargwellt Farm, Gelligaer. Based on a large dairy farm, and set up as a farm diversification business in 2005, Bryn Compost offers an in-vessel composting service to local authorities and food waste producers, offering an alternative to landfill. The in-vessel facility at Bryn Compost Ltd is one of two Regional Demonstration Facilities being developed in Wales as part of an ‘joint' initiative with Welsh Assembly Government, European Union and The Wales Environment Trust. This project provides an example of joint private/ public sector investment in providing environmental infrastructure necessary for Wales to achieve its waste diversion targets. The project is based on a 20,000 tonnes per annum in-vessel composting plant designed to compost a range of biodegradable wastes including kitchen wastes collected from households. |
