Environmental Services Association - ESA

ESA represents the UK's waste management and secondary resources industry.
Our Members provide essential waste and secondary resources management services to the public and private sectors.
We are working with governments, Parliaments and regulators to bring about a sustainable system of waste management for the UK.

Society for the Environment - SOC ENV

The Society for the Environment is a pleading independent, non-political umbrella organisation for environmental and sustainability professionals. 

Our purpose is to support and champion the role of environment professionals everywhere in the pursuit of a sustainable future. 
Since achieving our Royal Charter in 2004, over 5000 professionals have been registered as Chartered Environmentalists (CEnv) - the highest level of professional qualification available to environmental practitioners

Association for Organics Recycling - AFOR

The Association for Organics Recycling is the leading trade organisation for the biodegradable waste management industry in the UK.

Association for Organics Recycling is committed to the sustainable management of biodegradable resources. It promotes the benefits of composting and other biological treatment techniques and the use of biologically treated materials for the enhancement of the environment, business and society.

British Cleaning Council - BCC

The British Cleaning Council is the voice of the UK cleaning industry. It was established in 1982 to co-ordinate the affairs of the industry and to be responsible at home and abroad on industry matters.

The council provides a forum for members to meet and work together to raise the profile of the industry and help it gain the credibility it deserves. It also promotes and encourages improvements in health, hygiene and general cleanliness standards.

Keep Britain Tidy

An environmental charity and the anti-litter campaign for England. KBT also run programmes such as Eco-Schools, Blue Flag and Quality Coast Awards for beaches, and the Green Flag for parks to demonstrate practical action.

HWMA
 
Healthcare Waste Management Association

The Healthcare Waste Management Association (HWMA) was set up in 1993 (as the SMDSA). Since then, it has grown and evolved to what it is today – a body of members ranging from those offering waste containment and other consumables, to enterprises promoting systems for data collection/recording and waste tracking, waste consultants, washroom service providers, waste collection and transfer companies, and treatment and disposal plant operators. It is a trade association, formed to support the achievement, and maintenance of, high standards within the healthcare waste management industry.

In October 2015, the HWMA and CIWM signed up to a Memorandum of Understanding, agreeing to an ongoing partnership, commited to proactively exploring and identifying higher standards of professionalism in local enviornmental quality management based on sound science, technology, communication, enhanced community engagement along with the provision of information, skills, and best practice in all aspects of local environmental quality.
 

 

WAMITAB

WAMITAB is an awarding organisation and charity that develops regulated qualifications for those working in resource management and recycling; cleaning and street cleansing; facilities management and parking from operative through to management level.

In 2021, CIWM received recognition as an Awarding Organisation and End Point Assessment Organisation (England) from the educational regulators in England, Wales and Northern Ireland – an important milestone in the integration of WAMITAB into CIWM.

International Solid Waste Association - ISWA

The International Solid Waste Association - is an international, independent and non-profit making association, working in the public interest to promote and develop sustainable waste management worldwide. ISWA has members around the world and is the only worldwide association promoting sustainable and professional waste management.

The Association is open to individuals and organisations from the scientific community, public institutions and public and private companies from all over the world working in the field of and interested in waste management.

UKELA

UKELA is the UK's foremost membership organisation working to improve understanding and awareness of environmental law, and to make the law work for a better environment.

Its members - including lawyers and non-lawyers from across the private, public and voluntary sectors - are involved in the practice, study and formulation of environmental law across the UK and EU. You are warmly encouraged to join us, and to participate in our activities

Defra

Defra (the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) is a Government Department in the UK.

This will help see us through the difficult economic times, volatile food and energy prices and a changing climate which all make us more aware that we can’t take our environment for granted.

Associate Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group

A leading forum for debate between parliamentarians, business leaders and members of the sustainable resource community on the crucial issues affecting sustainable resource management in the UK.

The APSRG has support from over 120 parliamentary members drawn from both Houses of Parliament and across the political spectrum. In addition,  APSRG has over 90 external members, constituting organisations such as waste management companies, academic institutions, charities ( including CIWM) and government bodies.
