Healthcare Waste Management Association
The Healthcare Waste Management Association (HWMA) was set up in 1993 (as the SMDSA). Since then, it has grown and evolved to what it is today – a body of members ranging from those offering waste containment and other consumables, to enterprises promoting systems for data collection/recording and waste tracking, waste consultants, washroom service providers, waste collection and transfer companies, and treatment and disposal plant operators. It is a trade association, formed to support the achievement, and maintenance of, high standards within the healthcare waste management industry.
In October 2015, the HWMA and CIWM signed up to a
Memorandum of Understanding, agreeing to an ongoing partnership, commited to proactively exploring and identifying higher standards of professionalism in local enviornmental quality management based on sound science, technology, communication, enhanced community engagement along with the provision of information, skills, and best practice in all aspects of local environmental quality.
