CIWM has congratulated Dr Andy Rees, Head of Waste Strategy for Welsh Government, on receiving an OBE in the 2019 New Year Honours for services to the Environment and Recycling in Wales.
“This recognition is well deserved,” says CIWM executive director Chris Murphy. “Andy and his colleagues have delivered a step change in recycling in Wales and helped to ensure that resource and waste management is an integral part of Wales’ holistic policy framework on sustainable development and wellbeing. A long term CIWM member, Andy is active in supporting the Institution and contributing to the value it delivers to CIWM Cymru members and to CIWM’s wider policy thinking and influence across the UK and Ireland.”
