CIWM SW Centre - Resources & Waste Strategy

Resources & Waste Strategy
‘A Stairway to Heaven?’

A focus on local authority recycling and waste services

Date:  Friday 8th February 2019

Venue:  Petroc College, Tiverton

CIWM South West have drawn together leading national experts to discuss the newly launched Strategy with a focus on the implications for local authority resource recovery and waste management services and consistency in the South West.

With consultations expected from Defra in late January, this seminar will provide very timely and essential information, advice and discussion.

CIWM has welcomed the scope and ambition in the document which provides a much-needed framework to reboot recycling and support progress towards a more circular economy. But there is a lot more detailed work to be done to turn the proposals into positive action and change.

The seminar will explain the scope, detail and ambitions in the Strategy and the various consultations on which views are being sought. We will look at the current State of The Nation, aim to learn from the Welsh experience as the leading Nation in resource management and consider what WRAP can do to support local authorities in delivering change.

Having set the strategic scene, we will explore in detail the current challenges and performance in South West local authorities with expert practitioners and consider and comment on the potential impact of the various measures on future delivery.

Come and learn what the Strategy means for you and get an early opportunity to have your say and provide input into the consultations.
