Shanks Waste, Frog Island WMF - Tuesday 18th July 2017
The London & Southern Counties New Member Network is pleased to invite you to visit the Waste Management Facility at Shanks Waste, Frog Island on 18th July 2017. The NMN have a fantastic opportunity to tour the development, facilities and to hear about the processes involved.
Situated on Creek Way in Rainham, the plant serves a 25-year PFI contract signed in 2002 with the East London Waste Authority (ELWA), which includes the London boroughs of Havering, Newham, Redbridge and Barking & Dagenham.
As part of the visit there will be presentations on the operation of the facility and their fire Prevention Plan after the fire at the facility in 2014.
This event is open to all CIWM members and non-members are encouraged to join if they attend with a member. The number of delegate places is limited to 15, and in the event of over-booking, preference will be given to NMN members. We strongly advise you to book early to avoid disappointment. We have set a closing date for booking for Wednesday 12th July and delegates will be informed on the Friday 14th July. This will count as 1.5 hours towards your SET/ CPD.
Registration for the visit will commence at 14:30 hrs. We envisage the event will close at approximately 16:00. Precise venue details and directions will be provided once your booking form has been received, and registration confirmed.

PPE: We will provide high vis vests, gloves, glasses and hard hats but we need confirmed numbers please. All visitors must have sturdy boots / shoes. For avoidance of doubt, we will not allow sandals, trainers, slip on's, high heels or normal work type shoes. Visitors need to have walking boots or proper safety boots please. If we know in advance of anyone needing us to supply, we can assist but we need advanced notice and sizes please.
