CIWM Scotland Centre launches Members Charter

CIWM Scotland Centre has developed a Members Charter that sets out the roles for its Centre Council, as well as what the Centre expects from members.

Launched at the AGM in Dunfermline by Dr Nicki Souter, Chair of the Scotland Centre, the Charter recognises that the success of the Centre is dependent on the involvement and support of all of the membership.  It sets out the guiding principles by which opportunities for members and organisations can be provided, as well as the Centre's role in being a source of support, knowledge and an informed voice for the sector.

The Charter outlines how CIWM Scotland will develop and use its body of knowledge to inform, develop skills and identify and spread best practice.

It also sets out how the Centre Council will lead by example, offering encouragement and support to help members perform to the best of their ability, including through providing information, training and development and networking opportunities.

Members are asked to take pride in being involved with CIWM, and actively maintain its positive reputation at all times.

Dr Nicki Souter, Chair of the Scotland Centre, said:

“I am delighted to launch the Scotland Members Charter. I hope this will encourage members to take part in Centre activities, highlight the support available and enable the high standards and professionalism associated with membership of CIWM to be upheld.”

Dr Colin Church, Chief Executive Officer of CIWM, said:

“I welcome this initiative by the CIWM Scotland Centre. It reinforces the core values of the Institution to support its members, promote professionalism, work collaboratively and be enterprising. It also promotes inclusivity, strengthens the relationship between members and their Centre and helps reinforce a community that adds value both to individual members in their careers and to the waste and resource management sector as a whole.”

The Charter is available to download from the CIWM Scotland web pages here
