The CIWM Republic of Ireland Centre have organised a site visit to Thorntons Recycling's MRF Operations site.

Attendees on the day will learn more about the technology and developments at one of Ireland's leading materials recovery facilities, supported by Thorntons ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. 

The Centre invite you to consider the following questions throughout the visit: 
   - With the advent of policy and end market commodity quality changes, how is the MRF fit for purpose? 
   - What future challenges may have to be considered? (e.g. impact of DRS and Waste Recovery Levy)

The Killeen Road facility was opened by the family who owned Thorntons Recycling in 1991, and following a significant upgrade in 2021 the facility now achieves 92% recycling and recovery rates. 



Please Note
PPE is required for this visit, including a hard hat, safety boots and a hi-viz jacket.
