The Project seeks to create a National Network of local authorities and private and voluntary sector bodies working together to identify and publish best practice in sustainable waste management services.
Objectives
To assist local government and the waste management industry to achieve the requirements of the Waste Strategy 2000 and the EU Landfill Directive.
To improve the delivery of waste management services, move towards sustainable approaches to service management and delivery and to achieve the Best Value Targets that have been set for local authorities.
The Network will operate on a local (Regional) basis with overall scheme management by a National Management Group.
