Meeting European waste targets and future environmental challenges will demand considerably improved performance in diverting waste from landfill. One of the key factors in achieving this will be establishing the right number and mix of waste treatment and recovery facilities. Another will be greater participation in schemes aimed at reducing waste. All of this will involve consistently more effective engagement of the public, businesses and a variety of other groups.
But how do you go about improving understanding, achieving constructive dialogue, raising commitment levels, dealing with misconceptions and, in the longer term, bringing about the cultural change needed to maintain truly sustainable waste management in the future?
Speakers at CIWM's one day seminar in Sheffield on the 21st November 2006 will discuss and provide insights into these fundamental issues.
