CIWM conference and exhibition update

For the first time delegates attending the opening day of the CIWM Conference at Torbay on 14 June will be able to participate in an interactive question and answer session using the latest technology.

Delegates, who will be provided with hand-held electronic modules, will be asked to asked to key in their responses to a range of multiple-choice questions on issues affecting the waste management sector. It will then be possible to announce survey findings immediately.

CIWM Deputy Chief Executive Chris Murphy comments: ‘This is an excellent opportunity to undertake an instant survey with a representative sample of those working in and with the waste sector. We will be able to get industry views on some of the major questions that are currently challenging the sector and this will certainly add an exciting new dimension to the opening day.’

Other highlights on 14 June will include the investiture of new CIWM President Mike Philpott and a debate on The UK waste management industry is ready for the future chaired by Environment Agency Chief Executive Barbara Young and with speakers  Pers-Anders Hjort, Managing Director of  SITA UK; Ross Hilliard, Director of Compliance and Risk Assessment, Shanks Group Plc; and Marion Bernard, Senior Investment Manager, Impax Asset Management  Ltd.

And also new this year:

CIWM Daily Green Waste Recycling Demonstrations in association with JCB
There will be working demonstrations of shredding machinery supplied by Westcon and Komptek at the live demonstration area, based at Clennon Valley, Paignton, just off the main exhibition site.

Transport will be available for visitors from the conference venue.
