Person Specification

The Chartered Institution of Wastes Management is looking for a senior manager to lead our finance department. You will assume responsibility for the financial control of both our charitable and commercial companies under the direction of the Honorary Treasurer.

To this end, you will report extensively on financial performance and resource utilisation, produce detailed financial and management accounts and lead the Accounts Department to ensure the provision of a highly professional and responsive service. You will define our accounting systems needs for the future including IT needs and ensuring we remain abreast of the latest technological developments and continue to operate efficiently and cost-effectively.

Having been a Chief Accountant, Finance Manager or Financial Controller for
the last five years, you will be well versed in charity and corporate accounting.

In particular, you will bring demonstrable skill in preparing management and
statutory accounts, supervising the preparation and production of annual reports and overseeing budgeting, credit control and cash flow management. Naturally, working at Executive or Board level, dealing with auditors and audit committees and acting as Company Secretary should be second nature to you, and you will be an inspiring leader, mentor and adviser.
