For our AGM and Open Meeting we are returning to the excellent facilities at Langford. The Open Meeting programme covers a wide range of subjects which are very much live at the moment.
We open with an update on the implementation of WEEE which has not been without its problems. This is followed by two presentations highlighting local initiatives which we could see replicated across the country.
After lunch we will consider the implications of the new Waste Permitting Technical Competence will have on existing and future CoTC holders, and a review of CIWM’s commissioned scoping report into health & safety awareness and competence in the waste sector.
Finally an item for debate in the difficulties that waste managers are having to wrestle with regarding “Schedule 2 waste” and Trade waste in view of local pressures and Defra’s pronouncements.

The CIWM SW Annual General Meeting 2008 takes place before the Open Meeting. All are welcome to attend, but only Corporate Members may vote.
The costs for the day are £15 for CIWM members; £5 for students/unwaged/ retired; and £25 for non-members.
