The NGG have a fantastic opportunity to tour the site and find out more about the operations of the Energy Recovery Facility.
Operational since December 2004, Integra South West can process 165,000 tonnes of waste per year, and supply up to 16MWs of electricity to the National Grid. The design of the ERF is unique, in that the entire facility is housed under an aluminium-cladded dome. The dome stands 32 metres high, and the stack is 65 metres tall. The ERF is situated on the Southampton Water estuary, opposite Southampton Docks and uses the estuary water as part of the cooling process for the steam which is used to power the turbines that generate the electricity.
As part of the tour there will be presentations on the operation of the facility and Hampshire’s Waste Partnership, Project Integra.
This event is open to all CIWM members and non-members are encouraged to join if they attend with a Member. The number of delegate places is limited and in the event of over-booking, preference will be given to those new to the industry and/or younger CIWM members. We strongly advise you to book early to avoid disappointment. We have set a closing date for booking for 5pm Friday 21 March 2008. This will count as 2 hours towards your SET/ CPD.
Refreshments will be served at 10:30am and the presentations and tour will commence shortly thereafter. The visit will end at 12:30pm. Precise venue details and directions will be provided once your booking form has been received, and registration confirmed. Please note that car park spaces on the site are limited and we encourage visitors to car-share if possible.
