The industry reacted to the research carried out by Bomel for the HSE in 2004 “Mapping Health & Safety Standards in the UK Waste Industry” with robust initiatives and programmes for improvement and change. However, there is still some way to go to show a significant improvement on its Health and Safety performance.
The Health & Safety Executive will be reporting on the findings of the follow up research - “Bomel 2” as well as their recent report on the risks posed at all stages of waste and resources management.
