CIWM London & Southern Counties

The CIWM London & Southern Centre is run by members on a voluntary basis who organise an extensive programme of technical meetings, site visits, symposia and social events. It provides a forum for professional debate and the opportunity for members to meet and socialise through a strong network of professionals. CIWM London & Southern Members automatically become a member of the London & Southern Centre when they join the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management.

  • Frog Island WMF - Tuesday 18th July

    The London and Southern Counties New Members Network are please to invite you to visit Frog Island Waste Management Facility on Tuesday 18th July. The NMN have a fantastic opportunity to receive presentations about the work Shanks do on site and a guided tour of the facility.  

    Situated on Creek way in Rainham, the plant serves a 25-year PFI contract signed in 2002 with then East London Waste Authority (ELWA) which includes the London boroughs of Havering, Newham, Redbridge and Barking & Dagenham.

    Booking

    This event is open to all CIWM members and non-members are encouraged to join if they attend with a member. The number of delegate places is limited and in the event of over-booking, preference will be given to NMN members. We strongly advise you to book early to avoid disappointment.

    Arrival time and directions

    Please arrive at 14:30 as the presentations will begin shortly after. We envisage the event will close by 16:00. This will count as 1.5 hours towards your SET/ CPD. The site is located at Creek Way, Rainham. Precise venue details and directions will be provided once your booking form has been received and registration confirmed. 

    Personal Protective Equipment

    Safety boots (steel toe cap) are required for this event and we request attendees to bring your own safety boots. A full list of PPE will be sent once registration has been confirmed but because it is a live site, hi-vis will be expected.

     The London & Southern Counties Centre Council is pleased to give notice of an open meeting on offshore wastes. The presentations in the first session will cover wastes generated offshore, whilst the second session will look at managing and reducing plastic wastes in the oceans.

    This is a very topical issue and there should be items of interest for all waste managers in both the public and private sectors.

    The agenda and booking form are provided below.  Booking forms should be downloaded, completed and forwarded to mike.bland@ciwm.co.uk no later than 18 July 2017.
