CIWM London & Southern Counties

The CIWM London & Southern Centre is run by members on a voluntary basis who organise an extensive programme of technical meetings, site visits, symposia and social events. It provides a forum for professional debate and the opportunity for members to meet and socialise through a strong network of professionals. CIWM London & Southern Members automatically become a member of the London & Southern Centre when they join the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management.

The London & Southern Counties Centre Annual General Meeting will take place on Friday 28th April 2017 at The Camden Centre, London, WC1H 9AU.  Registration is at 09.30hrs for a 10.00hrs start.

The AGM will be followed at approximately 11.10hrs by the CIWM Masters Open Meeting.  This is the annual event to showcase the work of the Masters Students that were sponsored by CIWM in 2016 and there will be six varied and interesting papers.

There is no delegate fee for the AGM and CIWM Masters Open Meeting but pre-registration is essential to ensure a place.  A buffet lunch will be provided so please do not register unless you are certain to attend so that food waste can be avoided.

The agenda for the AGM and the open meeting are provided below, together with the booking form and directions to The Camden Centre.  The booking form is a Word document which should be downloaded, completed and sent by email to

London & Southern Centre Members will have received an email or letter today (24 February) informing them that votes cast so far in the electronic ballot for 3 places on Centre Council are now null and void.  The email and letter re-starts the ballot with effect from today and members can now vote again or vote for the first time if they wish.  Although beyond our control, Centre Council regrets any inconvenience caused.  The reason given in the email/letter today is an administrative oversight.  The explanation for this is that two of the candidates initially submitted supporting statements with non-conformities which were not picked up by the staff arranging the electronic ballot.  These non-conformities have been corrected and members are encouraged to submit their votes by the closing date of noon on 31 March 2017.

The Charity Collection on Friday produced a tremendous £11,038, Euros 55 and SA 20 and a few toys from the crackers for our two nominated charities - The Neuro Foundation and WasteAid UK.  Details of these worthy charities can be found in the attachment below.
