The Council works with:
- 9 elected Centre Councillors (including the Chair and Vice-Chair)
- an Honorary Centre Secretary
- an Honorary Centre Treasurer
- an NGG chair and NGG officers
- co-opted members (normally up to 4) if required
- 2 General Councillors
- 2 centre auditors
- an RDO in the devolved nations
Elected members:
- Elected members have to be corporate members.
- Each member is elected for 3 years. After 3 years, he/she can stand for re-election or stand down.
- To be re-elected, the member needs to be nominated (within the given deadline) and elected by corporate members of the regional centre. He/she is then elected for another 3 years.
- If an elected member stands down after his/her 3 years, a new member that has been nominated will be elected (for 3 years).
- If an elected member resigns before his/her 3 years, it creates a vacancy. The member elected to replace him/her is elected for the remaining time.
Each year, 3 elected members should stand for re-election or stand down.
During council's meetings, there need to be at least 4 elected members in attendance to validate decisions.
Co-opted members:
The committee can co-opt members on the committee to "fill in the gaps" on council knowledge and sector representation. Co-opted members bring a particular skill and/or knowledge that may be required for a limited period of time. The committee has to inform the co-opted member of the time of service he/she will serve. The co-opted member is reappointed annually- if needs be.
