Andy Reade MCIWM Andy has an MSc in Sustainable Waste Management which includes Global Waste Management. He is an associate member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (AIEMA), and holds a separate MSc level university certificate in Environmental Policy Leadership and Legislation. Andy works as an independent waste consultant across all areas of waste management, he is registered as a Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) assessor. Andy has also qualified as a WAMITAB technically competent manager (TCM), and provides TCM compliance cover for waste sites across the North West. Andy feels that continuing personal development (CPD) is an important area when working as a manager in the waste industry, so in his spare time he is studying for a PhD in Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) at the University of Manchester.

Sian Fisher MCIWM Sian established a waste management and IT consultancy business, providing waste management advice and training services to the NHS and private healthcare sectors. She previously worked as the Waste Minimisation Officer for Preston Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, Consultancy Services Manager for White Rose Environmental, as well as a short stint as a consultant to the World Health Organization in Kosovo. Sian is an active member of the CIWM Special Interest Group on Healthcare Wastes. Sian has an MSc in Waste Management and played a lead role in establishing the NW New Member Network. |

Peter Greifenberg FCIWM Peter is a waste management consultant specialising in strategy and policy. He has a BSc Special Honours degree in Geology. Peter has 30 years experience in waste and environmental management. He was previously with the Environment Agency as an Area Manager in the NW region and with Cheshire County Council as its Chief Waste Regulation Officer. He has been working as a waste management strategy and modelling consultant since 2001 and is a Director of 4Resources Ltd. based at Ribchester in Lancashire. Peter is elected as the North West Centre representative on the Scientific and Technical committee. |

Hugh Hoather FCIWM Hugh has been actively involved in the waste industry in both the public and private sector for 33 years and has been a member of the Centre Council since 1983. He was County Waste Disposal Officer for Cheshire County Council for 25 years before taking up the role of Managing Director of 3C Waste. For the past three years he has been ESA's Chairman of the North West Regional Meetings. He has a first class honours degree in Chemistry, holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration, is a Chartered Chemist and a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management.

Rob Kitchen MCIWM Rob is currently the Waste Development Manager for South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) having worked in the waste management industry for over 22 years and been a member of the CIWM for over 13 years. Rob began his career with Lancaster City Council, where he worked as Assistant operations Manager with responsibility for waste, recycling and street cleansing services. He gained a wealth of operational knowledge and experience, and was instrumental in the introduction of an alternate weekly collection service and a zoning system for refuse and street cleansing services. For the last 6 years, Rob has been the Waste Development Manager with South Lakeland District Council. He was responsible for the introduction of an alternate weekly collection service to all households within the District, which has enabled the Council to improve its recycling performance from 8% to 50%. He is currently the Council's lead officer for the joint procurement of waste, recycling and street cleansing services with Barrow Borough Council. Rob is also the Council's lead officer for the Cumbria Strategic Waste Partnership and has contributed to the development and implementation of the Cumbria waste strategy, which has included the procurement of a long term strategic partner for waste treatment and disposal. r.kitchen@southlakeland.gov.uk

Dan Murphy MCIWM Dan is a Bid Manager with Waste Recycling Group Ltd, co-ordinating the delivery of PFI waste infrastructure projects across the UK. He is a Chartered Waste Manager with over ten years experience encompassing municipal, hazardous and clinical waste management in both the public and private sector. Prior to his current role Dan was active in the field of resource efficiency and was instrumental in the launch of the WSP Integrated Resource Management team, having previously been the NW Regional Coordinator for the NISP Programme - a free business opportunity programme focusing on diversion of waste from landfill through identification of synergies across industry. Dan holds a degree in Chemical and Process Engineering and is a member of the Resource Recovery Forum (RRF) Advisory Committee.

Avril Banks MCIWM Avril has worked in the waste industry for nearly 20 years. Currently working in the Operations division of TEG Environmental, the UK's largest organics waste treatment company, she is responsible for the commercial development of this national business which is based in the North West. Starting her career in landfill, Avril has been involved with: the development of Mechanical Biological Treatment, Gasification, Anaerobic Digestion and In-vessel composting technologies for Herhof and ITI Energy; In areas such as strategic waste planning, producer responsibility and waste analysis through consultancy including Entec, Jacobs and Juniper and PFI and procurement as Senior Bid Manager for WRG, she was also responsible for the delivery of NISP the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme, in the North West, South West and London regions. |

Dr. Karl S. Williams MCIWM Karl is the Head of the University's Centre for Waste Management providing a regional portfolio of services including Academic Training and Education, Research, Knowledge Transfer and Business Support for all types of commerce, industry and public authorities. The Centre also has a significant involvement on the Construction Knowledge Exchange with a particular focus on construction waste. Karl is not only a Chartered Waste Manager, but also a Chartered Engineer: Engineering Council UK (CEng), Member of the Institute Materials Minerals and Mining (MIMMM), Associate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (AMIEMA), Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and accredited as a teacher in Higher Education (SEEDA).
