Reuters claims that a growing list of companies, from tiny start-ups to some of the world’s biggest corporations, are investing in products that will help them cash in on a mad dash for businesses to track their carbon footprints. Businesses worldwide are keen to demonstrate their green credentials through trying to measure the greenhouse gas emissions of assets such as buildings, car and van fleets and factory output. In the UK, carbon reporting is being driven by legislation, such as the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC), which extends principles pioneered by the European Emissions Trading Scheme to around 5 000 businesses.
