Viridor has launched an online YouTube channel, ViridorTV. The aim of the new channel is to show how millions of tonnes of waste materials are recycled, turned into energy or safely disposed of at its facilities throughout the UK.
In a bid to support Viridor's local authority and business partners with their education, awareness and corporate responsibility programmes, the company embarked on a project to virtually showcase how it operates over 280 facilities across the UK.
The end result is a series of mini-films, which feature Viridor facilities including a materials recycling facility, glass recycling plant, in-vessel composting plant, energy from waste plant and landfill disposal site. There are plans to add more films next year.
Viridor chief executive Colin Drummond, said: "Our YouTube channel and films provide an instant and accessible resource for anyone interested in recycling and waste management as we move towards a more resource efficient society.
"We operate some of the most advanced recycling and waste management facilities in the UK. Our customers and partners often ask for assistance in showing how materials can be recycled or recovered after they are collected and sorted. Posting these great little films online should help with that, and, further encourage more recycling and better resource management."
