Viridor Announces New Board Members

Viridor has appointed Mark Burrows-Smith as the new operations director to its board with an aim to strengthen the company's operational structure. Mark who has been Viridor's northern regional director since 2007, will begin his new role on 1 April 2011 and will be responsible for all Viridor operations. With an impressive track record spanning 15 years within the waste and recycling sector, Mark held overall responsibility for Viridor's Greater Manchester PFI waste contract and the integration of several recent recycling-led acquisitions.

Other appointments to the operations team include:

John Viviani taking over from Mark Burrows-Smith as the regional director, northern operations

Herman van de Meij will be responsible for resource management operations

Graham Warren as regional director, south east

Richard Jenkins will assume the role of regional director, south west.

Commenting on the appointments, Colin Drummond, CEO, Viridor, said: "The expansion of the Viridor Board, and our revised and strengthened operational structure, is in line with our strategic ambitions. It is designed to enhance Viridor's overall capabilities, especially in the winning and operation of large contracts and the development and delivery of essential recycling and waste treatment infrastructure and services for our customers."
