Verdant Launches New Collection Service

4 October 2010

Municipal services provider, Verdant, is today launching its new kerbside recycling and refuse collection service, for Vale of White Horse District Council, and is marking the occasion by sponsoring local football team Abingdon Town FC.

The new service is to mirror that launched in 2009 for Vale's strategic partner, South Oxfordshire District Council, which, in a year, pushed its recycling and composting rate from 44 percent to 70 percent.

Councillor Jenny Hannaby, executive member for waste, said: "I am really looking forward to the start of this much improved service. Residents will be able to recycle more items at the kerbside, which is far more convenient for them.

"As well as being better for residents, the new service is also saving money for the council and council tax payers, and is more environmentally friendly."

Mick Gumble, Verdant contract portfolio manager, added: "We're on the verge of starting a brand-new service that promises much for Vale residents. I'm sure they will help make it a great success and achieve fantastic recycling results.

"We're delighted to build our community presence and involvement by sponsoring Abingdon Town. For them and us, it's all about teamwork, doing the best that you can, and looking for new ways to do even better."
