Shanks Group announces new director

28 September 2010

Shanks Group plc has announced that Jacques Petry, former chairman and chief executive of SITA and Suez Environment, will join its Board as a non-executive director with effect from 30 September 2010. He will become a member of the Group's Audit, Remuneration and Nomination Committees.

Jacques Petry was chairman and CEO of SITA from 1996 before becoming the first chairman and CEO of parent company Suez Environment. In 2005, he became CEO of Sodexo Continental Europe and South America; and since 2007 he has been advising corporate and financial sponsors, initially as global head of RBS' Environmental Services Sector and more recently as an independent consultant, with regards to Infrastructure and Environmental Services sector investments worldwide. In December 2009 he was appointed a non-executive director of Idex SA, a French energy and facility management company.

Adrian Auer, chairman of Shanks Group, said: "Jacques is an internationally-recognised figure in the waste industry and we are delighted he has agreed to join the Board. He brings with him exceptional industry experience and a wealth of knowledge and expertise. His appointment strengthens the Board and I have no doubt he will add tremendous value in areas that are at the heart of the Group's ambitions. We look forward to his contribution to the further successful development of Shanks."
