Sandwell Council has announced a public consultation event for people living in Hill Top to find out about proposals to build a waste and recycling transfer station in Bagnall Street.
Earlier this month the council signed a £650m contract with Serco to deliver its Waste Improvement Plan (WIP). The partnership will see street cleaning, rubbish collections and recycling services modernized. Central to the new service is a proposal to build a waste and recycling transfer station, from which waste and recyclable materials collected across the borough will be transported to specialist local processing centres; and plans to improve access and reduce queuing times for users of the Household Recycling Centre in Shidas Lane, will be part of a full planning application that will be submitted by early February next year.
Residents who would like further information can attend the public consultation event at Harvills Hawthorn Primary School, on 7 December between 3.30pm and 8pm. Local businesses have also been contacted to arrange consultation sessions at the Triumphant Church of God in Harvills Hawthorn, on Wednesday 8 December between 10am and 2pm.
There are also plans to improve Sandwell's Household Recycling Centre in Shidas Lane, Oldbury. Proposals to improve access to the site and reduce queuing times for users will be part of a full planning application that will also be submitted by early February next year.
