Richard Barker, chief executive of BiogenGreenfinch, has been announced as the latest member of the Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas Association board.
BiogenGreenfinch, based in Bedfordshire, is a UK integrated designer, builder, owner and operator of food waste AD plants. The company has built 14 AD facilities for both the farm and food waste AD sectors, including three food waste AD facilities with a combined capacity of 90,000 tonnes per year. This success and knowledge, coupled with Richard's personal experience raising finance, puts him in an excellent position to serve on the ADBA board and help deliver a secure and financially robust future for AD.
He said: "I'm looking forward to serving on the ADBA board. The role of AD in both the food waste and farming sectors is set to dramatically expand, and it is vital that the industry is properly represented in order to ensure that the sector fulfils its potential."
ADBA Chairman, Lord Redesdale, welcomed Richard's appointment, saying: "Richard Barker will be a fantastic addition to the ADBA board. His experience in designing, financing, building and operating AD plants is exceptional and will help the Association move the industry forward.
"The strategy which Government and industry set in the near future will have huge consequences for the development of AD in the UK, so this is a crucial time.
"ADBA will act as the voice of the industry in this work, and Richard will be a huge asset in achieving an outcome which allows the AD sector to flourish."
