The borough ramps up recycling efforts ready for the summer to help make Every Can Count
Recycling in Weymouth and Portland Borough has been given a boost thanks to 20 brand new can crushers, designed to help more people do their bit for the environment when "on the go".
The council, in partnership with Every Can Counts, a recycling programme for public places and workplaces, has installed the eye-catching bright green can crushers across the borough. The can crushers will complement the recycling 'twin bins' for plastic bottles, cans and paper that have also been introduced in Weymouth town centre.
With the population of Weymouth set to almost double as a result of visiting tourists, day-trippers and spectators, it is hoped that the new recycling facilities will make recycling easy, accessible and convenient. The partnership with Every Can Counts will significantly contribute to the council's goal of increasing overall awareness of recycling as a way of life in Dorset.
