Julian Jones, former UK and Ireland Managing Director of Goldner Associates, died peacefully at home on Friday 17 February
In a statement Goldner said: "Julian was a Principal in our company and a vibrant member of the Golder community not only in the UK and Europe, but in the company as a whole. He joined Golder in 1992 and held various positions, including leader of our UK Waste Group, before assuming the role of UK Managing Director in 2002. Julian retired from Golder in 2010 but retained a close affiliation with the company and strong personal relationships with many colleagues.
"During his leadership, our UK business grew significantly and our company was placed in The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For on three separate occasions. He was also a key member of Golder's European Management team."
Julian's career spanned both the mining and waste industries, having worked underground in the Lothian coalfield and the Zambian copperbelt, and later he worked for Wimpey Laboratories and Blue Circle's Landfill Division before joining Golder Associates.
He was a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers; he was Regional Chairman of the ICE East Midlands during 2008/09.
Mark Gilligan, UK and Ireland managing director, said: "We send our sincerest and heart-felt condolences to his wife, Ann, and his family. Julian will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him, and I would like to pay tribute to the significant contribution his leadership brought to our UK and Ireland operations."
