Englands Top Councils For Street Cleaning Revealed

As a part of the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) national awards the six top performing Councils nationally for street cleansing have been shortlisted

Street Cleansing best performers shoetlist have been named as: Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council; Bassetlaw District Council; Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council; Eastleigh Borough Council; Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council; Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

The APSE data includes details of the cost of the service, the level of training and development, the results of customer surveys, staff sickness levels, work planning, deployment of resources, how waste is disposed of and how much is recycled together with the results of NI195 inspections - a national indicator for street inspections.

Cabinet Lead for Transport and Streetscene for Eastleigh, Cllr David Airey, said: "This is really great news. The Council has made a significant improvement in its street cleansing over the last few years and being shortlisted as one of the top six councils is recognition for all our hard work and the excellent service we provide for our residents. Being shortlisted is fantastic and I hope we can now go on and win the award".

The Council will find out if it has won the national award at the prestigious awards ceremony on Thursday 1 December in Blackpool.
